I attended A-Camp this past weekend, and there I met a Siren.
This is a poem about our meeting.
I heard a Siren sing today
And all the world stood still
To see the light shine coffee and cream upon her skin
I felt the moment everything
Stopped
And the current pulled me in
And despite so many warnings about Sirens
I didn’t mind
I didn’t mind
I wrapped myself in a net
To place at her feet
And for one moment I thought
She might pick it up
and drag me down
and drown me
I didn’t mind
But then she took the net
(and me)
And threw them back
Her fingers yet wrapped tight around the line
She called another sailor
And I’m fine
I’m fine
I’m fine.
